    Rebuttal with hesitation of screening songs due to triggers of old life

    My perspective: I believe most songs are like most movies, [such that] in order to invoke feelings/emotions, it must take from the best story of all time …

    Humans distort the story to the point that it is disordered from the original context of the bible

    Example: matrix is Jesus. R&b started from a point of expressing love, but then became over sexualized. Dance music an expression of joy, but then sexualized. Slow music to bring peace has been relinquished to sleeping and ignored. Angsty music an expression of emotional frustration and questioning, but seen as angry mosh pits.

    God can use anything to communicate with us

    We can use anything to worship Him

    Our heart posture is what God seeks in us

    Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Tension. Discernment

    Luke 12:30-31… Do not chase worldly things like the gentiles do. Your father knows you need them. Seek first the kingdom and all will be GIVEN to you

    Not seek the kingdom and then earn the other things

    Or pay for the other thing

  • One praise

    The working name is One Praise, with the long-term vision of bringing Christians from different churches together through worship, music, and dance. The eventual dream could be to develop Christian dance camps and a simple worship song/choreography that could spread beyond individual churches—even potentially becoming a recognizable worldwide flash-mob-style expression of praise.

    For now, though, I’m thinking much smaller: starting with a local youth worship event featuring worship teams from different churches. Rather than making it a competition, I want the emphasis to be on encouraging one another, with things like creativity, cohesiveness, and audience participation celebrated through encouraging awards. One idea I especially like is giving the audience two minutes after each team performs to send encouraging comments that appear on a screen.

    Eventually, I’d love for all the teams to come together for one final song and shared choreography. That could become the foundation for the larger vision.

    Debating on starting with a specific age group or opening it now to the full age range.
