Mark 1: identity first, love first, before service

    Voices that inform me

    Are forces that form me

Gen 3:16 first failure of manhood was passivity

    Eyes opened, shame enters

    They hide

    Who told you that

    Blame

    False voice says

    • Culturally says pride is strength
      • James 3:5 – God opposes the proud and grace to humble
    • Hiding brings safety
      • Cost of confession equates silence is a slippery slope
        • James 5: confess to one another
    • Dominate or disappear
      • Get big or small. Harsh or quiet
        • 2 cor 12:9 boast in weakness

*Snatched James 5 give to God and trust.

Anyone trying to save their life will lose it

Be willing to lose it all

    Give it all to God

    Conform to the world

    Or transform by Jesus

    Default to conform

    Or participate to transform

One dimensional salvation ticket to heaven

(Greek) To be delivered, to be made safe, made whole

Salvation saved in eternity plus changes current reality

Def today: full work of God to forgive, restore , and transform us to be like Jesus

    Col 2:13

Sin condemns and enslaved thru guilt

    Sin because of brokenness

Not Sick because of the flu

We have the flu because we are sick

No will or discipline will fix sin

Salvation is divine intervention, not self improvement

Sin destroys what God loves most – people

    Cannot just ignore and

ON the cross Jesus took what belonged to us for us to take what belonged to Him

Sin made us homeless. Removed from Eden. Removed from the father’s house

Lost their identity. Lost their inheritance. Lost the provision

Saved from and what we are being saved for

Jesus knew what he was saving us for

    Buy out of the marketplace

    Redemption not the goal

Adoption was the goal into sonship

Opened the door (better than forgiveness and freedom)

    Gal 4:7

We all want to go Home

Sojourn, yet seeking Home at the father’s house

God is not done with you as a believer. He will finish a good work

    Phil 1:6

You didn’t find God, God found you

    We are being saved

    Being transformed

    Until Christ returns

While in the darkest day, Christ died for us

So when we come to the Lord

He will say you are already forgiven

We are not trying to get into heaven

We are trying to get heaven into us

    Hebrews 1:9 NLT
[9] You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”

    2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT
[10] For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

It is painful to follow Jesus

    But it leads to salvation

The more I get to know him

The more of my sin is revealed

    The more I must repent

The closer I get to him

The more I am responsible for

    One more talen

    More work

    More reward

    Already a bridegroom

    Hurts so good
