1 Japan travel reflection

February midday Saturday travel is not busy

Sewing project is a great travel activity

Get $20 currency exchange as soon as you can

Do not look for deals yet

We got stuck in the station because we passed our stop

Because of 60 yen…

We had hundreds of US$

That was useless in Shinjuku without currency exchange machines

Not much English nor direction from firm security to not allow passage

Now at the end of the trip:

I understand we needed to merely jump on the train back one stop and freely walk out

At the time:

Had to beg a tourist and was willing to pay $20 (lowest denomination I had) to get out of the station

Mercy was given freely

After smooth walk and check in to hotel

Simple curry

Simply delicious
Cozy (small) clean hotel sleep
Early morning walk around city
Traditional breakfast a la carte

Lost my credit card along the way

Paid via phone tap wallet

Cat walk around city
Coffee park stroll
Rest In Peace Frosty

Etiquette embedded in culture

So meal respect was attempted
Quality presentation and tasty
Returned for a jet lag nap
Quality dipping ramen
Exploration of alley shops
More morning walks
My buddy with me and sharing to others
Beat all US hotel breffis
To Nagano!
Such nice stations

Unfortunately no ski rental in town

Ryokan with onsen is lovely
Could not figure out wifi
Potentially busy
Empty for this season
Well kept temple
Known for buckwheat soba
Overflow niigata sake
Must onsen

Forgot the room photo!

Comfortable floor tatame beds

Morning walk was quiet
More than Shinjuku
Oyaki great breki
Educating unplanned trek
Shiga kogen half day
Run 1
To the top!
1998 Olympics
Returned just in time for sunset
I like the normalcy of small owned shops
Independent quality

Onsen before bed

Morning walk thru park by temple
To Myoko-kogen!
Day 2 Run 1
Last run!
Good timing since I lost my lift ticket memorabilia
Awaiting bus ride back
Pocket ski snack smooshed
