Just transferring my refilled distilled water from one broken jug to the one I left behind

Saying

Too many friends makin' promises that
They never kept and that's alright

Promises were a big deal to me for some reason as a kid

Someone may have broken promises to me or

I broke a promise to someone

And I was guilted

Internally from myself or

Externally from their words

But I do remember taking pride in saying

I have not broken a promise
When I explicitly say
I promise

Until I did

Or someone else did

And the repercussions were not that bad

So that bad seed of verbal gymnastics

Became limber over the years

The Truth was danced around

Until I lost sight of it

And no longer recognized it

I did not recognize who to trust

Because I could not trust my own words

But now that I know I speak truthfully

I recognize the truth

I dance with The Truth

I no longer avoid or hide from it

I may not be able to dance perfectly all the time

But mercy encourages me to return when I fail

His grace grips my curiosity

Except God
